Whilst researching my dissertation A Critical Study into the Pursuit of Collecting, I interviewed Lance Martin, head of the display team at Paul Smith. Collecting plays a big role in Paul Smith’s work and often in the instore and window displays. I felt an affinity with the design process and was invited to design and install a window display.
The brief was to display new Paul Smith sunglasses using a collection of 500 pairs of secondhand spectacles. The Paul Smith design was elevated above the pile of redundant specs.
